Valuing the Police - 20 July 2010
Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary's report 'Valuing the Police', published today, shows that only 11% of the police are visibly available to the public. HMIC warns that with looming budget cuts, the availability of the police to the public will be even further reduced, unless there is a total redesign of the police. Also today the Audit Commission and the Wales Audit Office published a joint report with HMIC - 'Sustaining value for money in the police service'. The press release for these reports can be found in our media centre.
Criminal Justice Joint Inspection Plan 2010-12 - 14 July 2010
The Criminal Justice Service Inspectorates agreed a joint inspection plan in April 2010 for the year ahead, following earlier consultation with a range of interested parties. It is subject to review in the light of developments that may arise during the course of the year. One such recent development involves the abolition of Comprehensive Area Assessments (CAA). Any activity in the plan related to CAA will not now take place.
