Police Report Card

Police Report Card

For the first time, HMIC has published official crime and anti-social behaviour figures together with the independent and professional assessments carried out by Her Majesty's Inspectors of Constabulary.

The Police Report Card shows:

  • how safe you are
  • how much is spent on your police
  • whether they perform well and if they are likely to improve.

We've also made it easy for you to compare this information with the situation in other areas so you can decide if you're getting a good service and see how it fits into the national picture.

Single confidence target

In June 2010, Home Secretary Theresa May announced the abolishment of the central ‘single confidence target’. This is presented in the Report Card section of our website as ‘Public Confidence: All Agencies’ and while the target has been abolished the measure remains as a performance indicator – it will continue to be displayed in this manner for the time being but will be subject to review in the future.

The Police Report Card lets you see at a glance how your police force is performing and compare it with another force.
How safe is my area? Lets you check the level of different crimes in your area, compared with the national average.
Safety comparison ranks your risk of being a victim of crime with those in other parts of the country.
